This book photographically chronicles the children of Nicodemus, caputring the sweetness of new borns to the innocense of teens. The commentary was written by historian and descendant, Angela Bates. Each section speaks to the attitudes and experiences of mothers and their children, and what it was like to rear the first born generation of Nicodemus, children born free. Over 200 photos were used from the Nicodemus Historical Society’s photo collection at Spencer Research Library, KU, Lawrence, Kansas.
